Shot put for Sarah and Megan

Megan did not really push forward.Megan threw the ball upwards, instead of forwards .Megan did not really hold the ball correctly at first. The ball was resting on her palm, instead of her finger pads.

The ball was not resting against my chin before I threw the ball and I did not really push the ball forward like I was supposed to .The ball was not on my finger pads too so those are the main points that I should improve.

Monday 24 February 2014

Shotput for Yu Heng

Yu Heng's throw was alright. He displayed the transfer of body weight.Because of the transfer of weight, his ball went quite far.

Shotput Joshua and Matthaeus

Joshua should have pressed the ball firmly against his
neck and he did not punch out the ball. Still pretty good.
Matthaeus did not lift up his foot to gain momentum
                                          overall quite good.

Saturday 22 February 2014

Varsha & Sharmela & Lisantra's Shot Putt Throw

#1) Varsha's throw was alright overall. She just did not press the shot putt firmly to her neck and her fingers were not pointing to the side at the end of release of the shot putt. Other than that, she met the requirements of throwing the shot putt.

#2) Lisantra's throw was alright overall. She just did not place her elbow and upper arm of her hand that was holding the shot putt up and her fingers were not pointing to the side at the end of the shot. Other than that, she met the requirements of throwing the shot putt.

#3) Sharmela did not place the shot putt firmly against her neck, her elbow of the hand holding the shot putt and upper arm was not parallel to the ground and her fingers were not pointing to the side at the end of the release of the shot putt.

Lisantra & Varsha's Discus Thow

#1) Lisantra's throw was alright overall except for the part where the discus had to come off her index-finger and spin clockwise. Instead it was wobbly. She met the other requirements.

#2) Varsha's throw was alright too except that she did not release the discus at a 40 degree angle. She met the other requirements too.

Alden's discus throw

Alden did most of the steps well but he never really used his momentum.

Friday 21 February 2014

Nicholas's shot-put throw

All of the procedures are correct and the ball was on his finger pads when he was throwing, however,Nicholas did not 'punch' the ball but simply tossed the ball forward.

Thursday 20 February 2014

Timothy's shot-putt

Timothy did not "punch" the ball. Instead, he flicked his wrist, thus causing a risk that he may injure his wrist. The whole shot was also resting on his palm but not on his finger pads and the shot was also not pressed firmly on his neck. However, Timothy's fingers were pointing to the side at the end of the release of the shot.

Tuesday 18 February 2014

My shot-put throws

In this video, I noticed that I seemed to flick my wrist in the throws; my elbow is a little lower than it should be and I did not really hold the shot-put firmly against my neck. I did manage , however, to hold the shot-put properly and throw it at the right angle.

Friday 14 February 2014

This is Megan Kong s (4)and Sarah Phua s (5)  worksheet.
This is Megan s throw. She has completed most of the things successfully in the checklist. It is just that she did not lean back before she threw the discus and the discus did not really cut though the air ,resulting in the discus not going very far,but overall,I find that the throw was done rather well.

Tuesday 11 February 2014

Yong Ziab could have thrown 40 degrees and he should have leaned back.

Yong Ziab High Jump

Yong Ziab Should have tried to do a frost berry jump as it would be higher.

Jeremy's Discus throw

Arthur says:  Jeremy got the basics right and therefore, the discus could be thrown further.

Jia Ning's High Jump

Jia Ning started with her master foot and ran in a curve towards the bar.She did the scissors jump.

Timothy's discus throw

Timothy's throw is still quite good as the disc was resting on his finger pads and and was able to swing the disc with it facing down. Also, the angle of release was around forty degrees also. However, his last point of contact with the disc was not with his index finger, thus probably causing the disc not to go straight when thrown. Timothy also managed to have weight transfer while throwing the discus but he should have leaned back more to gain more momentum before throwing.

Nicholas throwing discus

This is a video and the checklist of Nicholas throwing the discus. He could lean backward before throwing to improve his throw.

Our discus throw(Dinesh & Ting Hao)

Pranav's discus and Yugan's Discus

Pranav has the discus resting on his fingers and he is able to swing the discus with it facing down. The discus came off with the index finger and he span it clockwise. His body leaned back before the throw, his angle of release was about 40 to 45 degrees.

The discus was resting on the finger pads of the finger, I am able to swing the discus with it facing down. The discus came off the index and span in a clockwise direction but body was not leaned back before the throw, and angle of release was about 40 to 45 degrees. I think I could have leaned back before the throw so I could have more momentum and the discus could have span further.

Arthur's Discus Throw

As you can see, Arthur's technique is correct as he has the discus resting on his finger pads and he threw it at the 45 degree angle and at the same time, he lifted his legs causing a distribution of weight from him to the discus. allowing the discus to cut through the air and travel further.

Donavan's discus throw

As you could tell from the video, the discus was not thrown straight and as a result, did not slice through the air and land without rolling. The angle also seems a little too high for the throw

Monday 10 February 2014

Yu Heng took off with his right leg (master foot) and managed to do the high jump and also took off with one foot. He has got his basics right. He did the straddle jump.
This is Alden's high jump video.  He did not use his momentum to jump over the bar and he only got very low clearance.

Friday 7 February 2014

Sarah's High Jump

Sarah took off with her master foot which was her right leg but hit the pole although she managed to get over. She could have ran in a curve instead of running straight forward to get the momentum of jumping over.

Lisantra, Shamela and Varsha's High Jump

Lisantra took off with her right leg (master foot) but did not manage to do the high jump she did not run fast enough and did not swing her legs over. She also swung the wrong leg over the pole. She tried to do the scissors jump.

Sharmela took off with her right leg (master foot) and managed to do the high jump and also took off with one foot. She has got her basics right. She did the straddle jump.

I took off with left leg (master foot) and managed to do the scissors jump. I think I should have run a bit faster.

Thursday 6 February 2014

Royce doing the high jump

Royce took off with his right leg(Master-foot) and did a Fosbury flop over the rope. His execution of the Flop was good as he had a good run up took off with one foot, arched his body over the rope and landed on the mat.

Tuesday 4 February 2014

Timothy's high jump

Timothy did scissors. He did it generally well as he left off with only one foot and approached from the side. He also left off with the master foot and swinged over with the inner foot then the other foot following through.

Tinghao doing High Jump

I think Tinghao did well and he executed all the steps well. The only problem with the jump was that he took off too early, causing him to knock the pole.

Megan s(4) High Jump S&W -by Sarah Phua (5)

I find that Megan is rather good at jumping and has gotten her basics right. She has done most of the things in the check list correctly, in fact she has done all except the one which said ' used the right leg to push off ' . She did the jump using the scissors method. But I find that she can improve by pushing herself up with the correct leg, the right leg instead of the left leg.  Overall the jump was nicely executed.

Nicholas doing high jump

Nicholas did a shredder jump and all his procedures are correct.I feel that he could have ran faster when running towards the pole.

Dinesh & Santosh doing High Jump

I think that Santosh's jump was good.

Donavan's High Jump

I noticed that Donavan leaned forward arm- first in the jump which might have caused him to hit the bar.

Pranav's and Yugan's high jump

I think that Pranav approached the bar from the correct side of the bar, took off with one leg. He swung the inside leg first over the bar and the the outside foot to follow through. He kicked the legs up and over the bar.

I approached the bar from the correct side of the bar, took off with one leg but I did not swing the inside leg first over the bar, I must try to take off with my right foot because I am comfortable with taking off with my left leg. and the the outside foot to follow through.  I kicked the legs up and over the bar.
